Top Marrakech Events in December 2018

Marrakech may be a lot cooler in December than a few months later but there’s still plenty of sunshine (nearly seven hours of it per day, on average, with maximum daily temperatures hovering around 18 degrees) and you’ll find lots of things to see and do. Here are some of the top Marrakech events in December 2018.

Top Marrakech Events in December

Starting on 30th November, the 17th Marrakech International Film Festival offers film buffs in the Ochre City the chance to catch screenings of international productions at locations, including Jemaa el Fna, the city’s main square, and the Palais des Congrès, until the December 8th. Attracting actors, film makers, producers and directors from around the world, this exciting event also presents tourists with a very real chance of bumping into a famous movie star or two.

The 11th Edition of the annual National Sun Festival of Youth & Music will see the city reverberating to the sound of music between the 1st and 29th December. Drawing music enthusiasts from all over the world, this outstanding event sees top Moroccan and international performers thrill spectators with a series of live concerts at venues right across Marrakech.

An eclectic range of musical genres is on offer including alternative, electronic, urban and world music with art exhibitions, hands-on workshops and lectures being added to the festival mix.

Those interested in issues such as migration and work opportunities in Europe and Africa can look forward to a range of important events covered by ‘Marrakech Migration Week’. Starting on 3rd December, this event sees representatives of UN member states, migrant civil societies, international organisations and many other stake holders gathering in Marrakech to network and exchange ideas. New Year’s Eve in Marrakech

Finally, in December we all look forward to New Year’s Eve. While the event is not widely celebrated by Moroccans themselves, many hotels across the city organise New Year’s Eve parties for their mainly European guests. At Les Borjs de la Kasbah we have marked the occasion every year with a lavish party (included in all room prices on the 31st) featuring a gala dinner and some exotic local entertainment.
