Under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, the 22nd running of the Marrakesh marathon, one of Morocco's major sporting events with an expected entry of 5,000 competitors from around the world, especially Europe, takes place on 30th January 2011 in the ideal 20+ degree temperatures of the Moroccan winter. One of the leading producers of world-class distance runners, Morocco is proud of its many champions and you'll have the chance to see the best of the current elite squad if you join the crowds lining the picturesque course around the town. Considered to be one of the fastest in the world, the flat circuit follows the ancient city walls, continuing along the elegant boulevards of the residential Hivernage and commercial Guéliz districts en route to La Palmeraie, with its golf course, palm groves and smart villas, before returning to town.
