Visiting Marrakech in September 2019? Here are some of the top events you should consider adding to your programme.
The month’s festivities kick off with the “Marrakech Salsa Bachata Kizomba Congress”, set to take place at the Palmeraie Resort from the 4th to 10th September.
Promising six days of fun, this salsa congress – considered to be one of best - offers an exciting combination of poolside entertainment, galas, parties and live international shows featuring around 2,000 participants from around the world.
What’s more, a range of workshops for beginners, intermediates and advanced groups (Porto ON1 & 2; Kizomba, Cuban & Bachata) will ensure that all visitors get a chance to practise, or learn, some salsa skills.
Another unusual event, the Primitif Festival, on 11th September, is a must. Held at Lac Lalla, Takerkoust, just 30 minutes south of Marrakech, this international gathering revolves around psychedelic music & art, with participants and spectators coming together from around the world for an intercultural exchange but mainly to spotlight and celebrate the rich and varied culture of Morocco itself.
While the festival’s focus is on the so-called Psytrance music genre, there is also a diverse selection of other genres, including Techno, Chill music, Cumbia Electro and more.
Well known as a haven of coolness and tranquillity, Lac Lalla is an extensive, four-mile-long reservoir, a popular ‘getaway spot’ for locals in the Agafay desert. Surrounded by stunning scenery, the lake is not only the perfect setting for the festival itself but for outdoor recreation in general with its beaches, water sports, horse riding, fishing and hiking trails all combining to make this a great place to visit at any time.

Oasis Festival, a Techno, Electronic & House music festival with a uniquely stress-free, chilled-out atmosphere; it takes place from the 13th to 15th September
Trophée Rose Des Sables, a ‘ladies only’ rally scheduled to run from the 15th to 27th September
Chant Du Malhoun & La Chanson Patriotique Festival from the 24th to 28th September
Miss Arab Beauty in The World (4th Edition) from the 25th to 29th September
Major business events this month include the 11th Edition of PURE Life Experiences (08/09/2019 – 12/09/2019) and the MEBAA aviation trade show (25/09/2019 – 26/09/2019).
