In the Kasbah quarter of the ancient Marrakech medina, easily accessible by taxi, minibus and horse-drawn calèche and only yards from the Royal Palace, Les Borjs de la Kasbah is a charming boutique hotel in Marrakech meticulously created by craftsmen over a period of four years from a complex of six small town houses (dars) and one riad.
On entering this haven of tranquillity you will be struck by the restful atmosphere of contemporary refinement and arabo-moorish charm,
the whole contrasting sharply with the frenetic activity of the thronged medina beyond its walls.
Nora and her staff were so wonderful to us from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. We had decided we wanted to get married at Les Borjs after a friend had mentioned our plans to Nora, the co-director, before we arrived and she graciously agreed to host us. When we talked to her about what we wanted she was happy and willing to do anything we requested. As there is an onsite spa I was treated to a traditional hammam and had a personal hairdresser attend me on the day itself. As we had been unable to obtain a priest locally Hamza, one of the front desk staff, officiated our wedding for us. They also brought in a lady to apply traditional henna decoration for me prior to the ceremony after which, in keeping with tradition, they scraped off the dye, mixed it with water and irrigated one of the orange trees with it. I was greeted as I came down the stairs to walk down the aisle accompanied by Moroccan chants before the ceremony. Nora also took care of my simple bouquet, to which were attached some special charms from my family. Then, to end the day, we were treated to an intimate Moroccan style dinner, the feature dish being lamb shoulder, beside the secluded pool, with candles and heat lamps and music. All to ourselves. It was simply the most magical way to start our life together. My husband and I will be forever grateful to have had such an amazing wedding, just the two of us and the hotel staff. We were treated like a true King and Queen. Thank you to Les Borjs for making our special day a dream come true.
As this was our first experience of Morocco we wanted to stay in the old city of Marrakech especially as we are old enough to remember the 1969 song "Marrakesh Express" and in particular stay in the Kasbah area. Les Borjs de la Kasbah seemed to fit the bill. It turned out to be the right choice. It is a lovely family owned business. The staff and owners are such nice people. We had a standard suite (Room 202) for seven nights and couldn't have asked for a nicer room. The food was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. They can organise tours for you so we took advantage of that and had three different trips out. A great place to stay and not too far from anything of interest.
Les Borjs de la Kasbah a wonderful place! I felt at home as soon as I arrived and was very sad to leave. Tom and Nora are superb hosts and their team is fantastic. Nothing is too much effort for them. It is simply a beautiful place to relax, meet people and enjoy good food and drink. The restaurant serves the best food I had during my stay in Marrakech, from tagines or steak to the Les Borjs burger. The wine and cocktails are also top notch. I absolutely loved my room, which was spacious and very comfortable. I could not have asked for anything more. I strongly recommend this hotel for a family, couple or a solo traveller. The ambience is lovely and the location is excellent. Everything is on your doorstep. Mohammed and Hamza on Reception hotel offer excellent advice on day trips and will answer any other question you may have. Thank you Les Borjs de la Kasbah. I'll be back!
This was a short but wonderful trip to Marrakech to celebrate my son's birthday. I can really state that choosing Les Borjs de la Kasbah was the best decision I could ever have made. From arrival to departure we were treated as special guests - nothing was too much trouble for anyone. Tom and Nora were exceptional hosts, the dining room experience was amazing, thanks to an extremely talented chef, and our room overlooking the courtyard was tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The riad hotel is situated in the Medina so everything we hoped to see in Marrakech was walkable. I intend returning very soon to this amazing find. Thank you Tom and Nora
This Anglo/French, husband and son are English and wife is French, family run riad is simply top class. The service is exceptional and all the staff always have a smile and can't do enough to please. HOTEL RESPONSE: many thanks for your complimentary remarks. We haven't yet started following Ryanair's example - as we might if we were to decide that everything apart from the bed should cost extra! - but a friendly smile is the very least one should expect from staff at any hotel, even if, sadly, one doesn't always get one! For the record, Les Borjs is indeed owned by an Anglo-French couple (my wife and I) but it is run by their 50:50 son, Tom, and his Moroccan wife, Nora, who is in charge of receiving visitors and much more besides. All of us are delighted to welcome visitors from the lovely island of Ireland so we hope to see you again.
This riad in the old medina is close to the Royal Palace, the Badi Palace and the royal tombs and within a nice stroll of the main square (its location makes you walk through a nice section of the old city that is a bit off the beaten track). The riad/hotel itself is beautiful, modern and fully equipped. I stayed in a suite and it was big and super gorgeously decorated. The owner himself and his very friendly staff are there to talk with you, to help and welcome you. There are two really nice patios with a good restaurant inside. Totally recommended.
Immediately wanted to permanently move in to Les Borjs and live there for months. Staff and owners are welcoming and quite outstanding at providing services; food is excellent; rooms are exotic yet very comfortable and spa services are truly outstanding.
Fantastic stay in a beautiful riad with the most amazingly helpful staff. Nothing too much trouble, their aim was to please at all times. Great room, spotless bathroom, super pool, wonderful breakfast. The hotel arranged two trips for us. The camel ride in the desert was superb: the friver was great and the camel owner really friendly, giving us a tour as well as the ride, which was a super experience. The day trip to the Ourika Valley was marvellous. Our driver, Sharif, was friendly, informative and super patient. He found us a great guide for the walk to the waterfall, some of which is a scramble rather than a hike - not a stroll by any means (we're in our late 60s). But we loved it. The whole day was terrific. I had a hammam on another day and loved every minute of it. I heartily recommend this riad. It's superb.
An absolutely wonderful experience in a beautiful hotel staffed by cheerful, kind and welcoming people. We couldn't have chosen a better place to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary (2 years late, thanks covid!). This hotel represents the very best of the kasbah, Marrakech and Morocco.
As soon as we arrived and were warmly greeted by the management team we knew we were in the right place! This visit was actually a rebooking from an unfortunate cancellation at start of Covid. We were determined to go to the same riadh as it looked so good, so the booking took a bit of time to reorganise as it is quite popular. The riadh is a tranquil oasis just a short walk from the crazy “wonderfulness” of old town Marrakech with rooms that are beautifully finished. There are two courtyards (one with a lovely pool with plenty of room to relax, and a snack bar), lots of well furnished public rooms and spaces for chilling out, a delightful bar and a gorgeous dining room. The food, from delicious breakfasts to plentiful snacks/lunches through the day to excellent local dishes on the dinner menus at night, are delicious and cooked with great attention to the flavours of Morocco. Compliments to all the chefs and kitchen staff. Last, but by no means least, is the service and attention offered by all the staff….truly nothing was a bother to them. In addition they were all great fun and a credit to the place. Finally a special mention to Nora and Tom, son and daughter in law of the owners, for their kindness and, dare I say, friendship during our week there….you made our trip special!
We recently spent two nights at Les Borjs de la Kasbah during a 16-day trip to Morocco and it was probably my favorite hotel of the entire trip. We had a suite (room 202) that was absolutely gorgeous. The service was also excellent, from the front desk clerk (Hadija?, who refused to accept a tip after helping us with our bags and showing us to our room, saying "I'm just doing my job") to the helpful and attentive dining room staff and the charming owner, Tom, who provided advice on restaurants, transportation and sights. We also had a delicious dinner at the hotel's restaurant. It was very convenient for the sights of Marrakech yet felt removed from that chaos. We were so glad that we chose Les Borjs for our stay in Marrakech.
Beautiful, comfortable accommodation, lovely private courtyards, wonderful friendly and helpful staff, delicious breakfast - one of the best omelettes we've ever had! Enjoyed a fabulous massage, and relaxation by the lovely pool.
It seemed to us as if we were entering our own personal paradise. The welcome was very warm and every staff member at the hotel starting by Nora and Tom made our stay perfekt. The food is excellent und the rooms are so cosy and furnished with great taste.
Stunning riad, fab location, great food and lovely pool, - but it’s the owners who make it so very special! A family of four adults, we stayed in 3 different places, all similarly priced, during our trip to Morocco and Les Borjs was head and shoulders above the other two. The property is stunning. The rooms catered for everything and breakfasts were delicious but what really stands out are the owners and their team. Everyone, from the moment we arrived, couldn’t do enough for us. We loved the place so much we cancelled our 3rd hotel after just one night and returned! Cannot recommend highly enough - book it!
After a long hot day of being a typical Marrakech tourist, crossing roads in the crazy traffic, returning to Les Borjs de la Kasbah was like coming home to a haven of calm and relaxation. Tom and Nora were the most charming and friendly hosts ever and all the staff were so welcoming and helpful with cheery smiles. Nothing was too much trouble. Breakfasts were plentiful and delicious and the evening meals we had were of a high standard. We had an excellent afternoon in their spa as well. Rooms were tastefully decorated and kept very clean each day. We also enjoyed two excursions organised by this Riad. On our return to the UK we have already recommended this place to friends and family. "Top- notch"!
Even with an earthquake during my stay, I can’t fault this lovely riad for their customer service. The staff are so helpful and made my stay so enjoyable. The owners, Tom and Nora, go out of their way to ensure all their hotel guests are enjoying their time at Les Borjs. This is the second time I have visited this year and am already looking at dates to visit again next year.
We arrived at Les Borjs de la Kasbah on Sept 6th to a wonderful welcome from the concierge. Throughout the stay the staff were exceptionally helpful and waited on our every need. On Day 3, the 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck Morocco. Everyone from the riad was guided to the open square nearby and was provided with pillows and blankets to make the few hours we stayed outside as comfortable as possible. The owners and staff were wonderful throughout that entire experience and continued to be wonderful in the days thereafter when we were back at our riad. There is a book in the reading rooms on how the riad was created. It is no surprise after reading this book that no damage was done to the riad throughout the earthquake. It was very re-assuring for the rest of our stay. Thank you for a wonderful stay and for making a very daunting experience as comfortable as possible.
Prachtige uitvalsbasis als je een trip naar Marrakesh wilt doen. Rustige binnentuin met heel vriendelijke bediening. De kamers zijn zeer proper en het ontbijt is zeer lekker! Een echte aanrader!
There are so many riads in Marrakech, some claiming to be family friendly others to be luxurious but the Borjs de la Kasbah combines both and a welcoming atmosphere with the friendliest staff ever in a superb location. Les Borjs has its own Spa and Hammam offering one of the best massages we ever had and its own pool which we really enjoyed in the afternoons after our tours when it was getting very hot in the city. We only booked Bed and Breakfast because we originally intended to go out in the evenings for different restaurants, but then stayed for the dinner as the Chef is excellent, the waiters super friendly and everything is home made. Delicious. The Riad is situated in the south of the Kasbah in a quiet location next to the royal palace. It is accessible by car so you don't have to carry your luggage through the streets. They offer excursions with drivers at fair prices. The hotel is a 15 minute walk from the Djema al Fna through a safe and unspoiled residential quarter. All in all we enjoyed our stay very much and are already planning to come back as soon as possible. Thank you to Tom, Nora and all the staff for a great holiday!
Vielen Dank!
I don't give out 5 stars as they should be earned. This place deserves six stars. From the excellent friendly welcome everything is great. The staff are so friendly, the facilities great. Nora and Tom are such good hosts. The spa is amazing. The food is excellent quality and everything is well priced. This is my second visit here and would not visit anywhere else. Recommended to our friends and they loved it. Do not hesitate.
This Riad is simply perfect, not least the friendly welcome by the staff and attentive service. We had a very relaxing stay in this riad oasis of peace with its great charm and many beautiful details designed with love. Everything is very clean: room service and bedlinen and towels included for the pool! The cuisine of the restaurant / breakfast is of a very high standard and offers a real treat! Everything in the medina is within walking distance! If we ever come back to Marrakech we will definitely book here again. We can honestly and absolutely recommend this riad!
From the moment you enter the hotel and smell the orange blossom in the air you are transported from the dusty chaos outside into a true oasis of calm. The hotel is very clean and well maintained and we were very pleased with our room overlooking the main courtyard. The food was excellent - we were half board and ate very well, lots of choices at breakfast and 3 courses for dinner. Peaceful and relaxing - nice seating areas to chill in around the hotel and sun beds next to the beautifully clean pool. Lovely spa where we had a fabulous traditional Hammam - really special. About a 20 minute walk to the main centre and only 10 minutes or so to the airport. All the staff are wonderful - welcoming and helpful - thank you to all the staff for your kindness. Would definitely recommend and I would stay here again in a heartbeat 💗
Great riad. We were greeted very warmly with a welcome drink right at the beginning, then were shown the map of the city and how to get around it. Good breakfast, great French cuisine (especially appreciated after long trips 😉). Pool and and bedroom both very clean. Beautiful courtyard to relax in. Staff super helpful, attentive and friendly.
